CONFERENCE OUTCOMES
The Third Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts, and Islands, "Moving the Global Oceans Agenda Forward", took place on January 23-28, 2006 in Paris France. The conference was attended by over 400 participants from 78 countries, and brought together members of governments, regional organizations, UN agencies, academia, non- governmental organizations, donor agencies, and industry representatives.
These reports present highlights from the Global Conference and summaries of conference discussions related to the attainment of major World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) and Millennium Development Goals (MDG) ocean targets. A full report on Progress Achieved on the Oceans/Coasts/SIDS Goals from the WSSD and the MDG will be available in June 2006 and will be presented at the UN Informal Consultative Process on Oceans.
