Progress on Combating Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported Fishing ( WSSD goal)
Honorable Minister Ben Bradshaw, MP, Minister for Local Environment, Marine, and Animal Welfare, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, United Kingdom
High Seas Task Force - A Ministerially-led Task Force on Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing on the High Seas.
In December 2003, United Kingdom Minister for the Environment, Elliot Morley MP, announced the formation of the "High Seas Task Force," a ministerially-led group to address the problem of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing on the high seas. The goal of the task force is "to set priorities among a series of practical proposals for confronting the challenge of IUU fishing on the high seas. The end result will be a pragmatic and prioritized action plan that is both analytically sound and politically saleable and will act as a catalyzer."
